The long awaited political history was implanted in Akwa Ibom State, when Senator Udoedeghe stormed Uyo, a few years after being robbed of the mandate given to him by his people, to appreciate them for their support.
Addressing his teeming supporters last weekend at his Chapel Villa, Afaha Offot residence, Uyo, Senator Udoedeghe thanked them for their unflinching support during the 2011 Guber race for him and his Party.
He stated that the 2015 race will be between his Party (the APC), and the ruling PDP, pointing out that the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill, Akpabio, will produce the PDP flag-bearer for the 2015 election.
Acknowledging the interference and influence of the Presidency in the selection of candidates of the PDP in the entire states of the federation, the former Senator and Minister said that those who are eyeing the PDP Gubernatorial ticket in the State, are just wasting their time, as the Governor will use his influence as the Party Leader to have his way. Pointing out that the attempt by the Governor to impose a preferred candidate on the people will be a blessing to his ambition of taking power from the ruling Party, as according to him, the aggrieved members of the PDP will decamp en-masse to join the APC.
Also speaking, the Chairman at the occasion, Obonganwan Dora Ebong, called on APC faithful to trust the leadership of Senator Udoedeghe, saying that he is the only person that has the heart to bring positive change to the State. The South-South Women Leader, also present at the event, echoed her confidence in the ambition of Senator Udoedeghe. In his remarks, the 2011 Chairman of Group Heads, Mr. Edet Useh, called on APC members to work hard to deliver the Party in 2015.
Comrade Ndiana O. Asuquo, who was the Chairman of the Planning Committee, lauded the unprecedented loyalty and love of Senator Udoedeghe for his people, to gather them, even after he was robbed of the mandate which was given to him, and give them reason to hope for a better future; and all supporters for coming out en-masse to grace the occasion. Highpoint of the event was the live stage performance by Victor Anthony Essiet (The Mandators).
Those in attendance were: Dr Ahmadu Attai (State Chairman of the APC); Chief Emmanuel Udo (State Deputy Chairman of the APC); Hilliard Ettah (South-South Chairman of APC); Deaconess Rachel Akpabio (South-South Women Leader); His Highness Etebom Sylvanus Okon (Clan Head of Offot Ukwa); Mr. Effiong White; as well as women’s groups, and party faithful, among others.
