A Political leader in Etinan Local government area, Otuekong Sunny Jackson has assured Etinan people of better days ahead which he said would be brought about by an APC (All Progressives Congress) led administration.

Otuekong Jackson, who stated this on Saturday at his country home, Nkana, when he played host to APC stakeholders and all the candidates of his party in the December 2 local government election in Etinan, noted that, the only better option available for the development of the area was for his party to take over the mantle of leadership.

The former lawmaker who is also an APC chieftain in the state frowned at the poor state of affairs in the area, blaming same on poor leadership. At the meeting were the State Vice Chairman and Uyo Senatorial District Chairman of APC, Obong Uko Umo, Chapter Chairman, Rev. Samuel Ukut.

He said: “When I look at the caliber of persons nominated as chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates, I have every course to be happy knowing that the effective leadership which Etinan people yearn for would be achieved. I have also seen here the Councillorship candidates nominated at various wards in Etinan, who are people of proven integrity that are capable of representing the grassroots people at the local government council.

I am convinced that you have the capacity to deliver an effective leadership so you have my support and those of all the APC family as well as all Etinan people who are no longer comfortable the way their affairs are managed by the current leadership. So the people of Etinan need change and you are the representatives of that change. I can assure you that the APC would win this election and deliver to the people the needed change”.

The APC chieftain who supported the candidates with cash donation to help in their campaigns also charged them to take their campaigns seriously, hinting that the APC, being a national party was in control of security forces and assured them of maximum security before, during and after the local government polls.

Also speaking at the occasion, the State Vice Chairman of APC, Obong Uko Umoh, a.k.a. Commander, who is also the Uyo Senatorial District Chairman of the party, thanked Otuekong Jackson for the gesture noting that it was a sign of better days ahead for the party in Etinan. Obong Umoh on his part assured the Etinan APC Chairmanship and councillorship candidates that the state chapter of the party would do everything possible to ensure victory for all its candidates in the local government polls.

“The State Executive of the APC knows how important this local government election is that is why it is doing everything possible to ensure victory for all its candidates across the state. So I want to assure you of the support of the State Exco. The national body is also aware of this local government election and there are strategies on ground to ensure that the party comes out victorious”, Commander noted.

In her remark, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Etinan, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Etuk, who spoke on behalf of all the candidates, thanked the host, Otuekong Jackson, for his magnanimity, noting that it served as morale booster for them. She promised on behalf of her colleagues to strive towards winning all the wards in Etinan Local government area in order to enthrone sanity in local government administration in the area.

She said: “Let me use this opportunity, on behalf of my colleagues to thank our host and other stakeholders of the APC in Etinan who are here for their support so far. Let me state clearly that we are ready to take over the mantle of leadership in Etinan so that we can enthrone sanity into local government administration. Let me also say here that the fact that I am a woman is rather a plus for me because already, I have the support of all the women in Etinan local government area for the forthcoming council election.

We are in the race to win. The APC is a national party and we cannot afford to lose a local government election in a local government as strategic as Etinan. Let me assure our stakeholders that we shall bring to bare the ideologies of our great party in the running of the local government council of Etinan”.
