…Obong Ukpong Udoh’s many sins; gang up against PDP exposed
By Ime Silas
All entreaties to appease Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, who is popularly known as Macaire, to allow peace to reign in the Ikono chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in order to guarantee its victory, have been rebuffed by him, thereby threatening the chances of victory, the youths of Ikono have alleged.
The youths who stated this in a three-page petition addressed to the Akwa Ibom State’s Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, copies of which were sent to Stakeholders of the party within and outside Ikono Local government area, also pleaded with the leadership of the PDP in Ndiya Ward 8 and Ikono to do the needful by beginning the processes of expelling Obong Ukpong-Udo from the party.
Stating the grounds for their conclusion, the youths who acted on the aegis of The Concerned PDP Youths in Ikono, alleged that since the attempt by Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo to foist himself on the people of Ikono as Political Leader did “not enjoy a popular acceptance”, he has done everything within his powers to bring down the political system in the area.
In the petition dated October 23, 2017, and signed by Utenge Jacob, Sampson Isuaiko, Okon Usoro and other 19 youths representing the eleven Wards in Ikono Local government area, a copy of which was sighted by our correspondent, the concerned youths accused Macaire of committing numerous anti-party offenses, blaming some stakeholders of the PDP in Ikono of “unnecessarily over-regarding” him, thereby shooting the party in the foot.
The petition captioned: “The Many Sins Of Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo alias Macaire: Please Expel Him Before He Kills the PDP in Ikono”, reads thus in parts “…We are worried that while the faithful members of our great party, the PDP, are putting in their best to build the party and ensure its victory, one individual is on the other hand, doing everything to kill it.
“We wish to inform you that since Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo failed in his attempt to ensure the emergence of his preferred candidate in the person of one Dr. Augustine Umoh, during the party’s Chairmanship primaries, he has rebuffed all attempts by the leadership of the party to appease him.
We have it on good authority that this same Macaire has been given the privilege of nominating the Vice Chairmanship candidate for the party in the forthcoming local government election which he did and it was accepted, yet still(sic), he is not satisfied. The question is: What Does Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo alias Macaire want?”
Stating the genesis of the problem, the youth group said: “Problem started when this same Obong Emmanuel wanted to foist himself on the people of Ikono as Political Leader. Since this move did not enjoy a popular acceptance, he has done everything within his financial strength and connection to bring down the political system in Ikono, which is currently led by the PDP. We want to state here that no one send(sic) Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo to be sharing cars to people all in a bid to buy their hearts to become Political Leader. His failure should not be the reason PDP would fail in Ikono.
What anti-party activity could supersede a self-styled PDP stakeholder sponsoring media attacks against his party’s Chairmanship flag bearer? The fact his vice chairmanship candidate nominee was accepted, yet, he still works against the party, confirms the suspicion that Macaire is the one sponsoring another political party to defeat the PDP so as to satisfy his ego. We have it on good authority that he has been having meetings with opposition parties in the state. Again: what does Macaire want?
“…After a careful study of his anti-party activities as stated above, as well as many others not mentioned here, we wish to call on the leadership of the PDP in Ndiya Ward 8, Ikono South as well as the Ikono Chapter Exco to begin the needful process of expulsion against Obong Ukpong-Udo before he kills the party in Ikono”.
Meanwhile, efforts by this Paper to get reaction from Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo on the allegations prove abortive as calls to his phone lines were not answered as at press time.
