Supporters of President Mohammadu Buhari and indeed entire Nigerians have been charged to be patient with Mr. President as he strives to reposition Nigeria for greatness. This advice was handed down on December 30, 2015, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State by one of the National patrons of Buhari Friends Organisation Network, BFON, Baba Bala Ingawa during the group’s South-south\ South East 2015 end-of-year get-together.
Baba Ingawa, who also called on Nigerians to pray for the success of the Buhari-led administration, noted that since Mr. President was leading the country in line with the nation’s Constitution, everybody would be accommodated one way or the other.
He advised that as friends of President Buhari, the group owed him the duty of enlightening other Nigerians on the various successes recorded by the current administration especially in the area of fight against corruption.
Earlier in his speech, the National Coordinator of BFON, Saint Athanasius Okon thanked members of the group for their continuous show of solidarity for President Buhari, noting that they would not be disappointed for supporting the President which led to his emergence.
He hinted that as the first group who went to the then General Buhari to persuade him to join the race for 2015 Presidency, they had contributed in no small measure to whatever benefit would come to Nigeria as a result of his good leadership. The group’s helmsman tasked members of BFON from Akwa Ibom state to be steadfast, assuring that soon, the much needed change would sweep the state.
Fielding questions from journalists at the sidelines of the event, the Ibiono-born politician cum youth activist expressed his satisfaction with the recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal in Abuja which nullified the April 2015 governorship election in Akwa Ibom state. While hoping on the impartiality of the Supreme Court at which the removed Governor Udom Emmanuel is challenging the appellate court’s judgment, Saint Athanasius maintained that the court has proven itself as the last hope of the common man.
He expressed his hope that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Obong Umana Okon Umana would be victorious in the possible re-run in the state maintaining that the change mantra was a revolution shaking all the facets of the country.
Also present at the occasion were the former Military Administrator of Ogun and River States, Group Capt. Sam Ewang, who doubles as one of the National Patrons of BFON; South-south and South-East Coordinators, States and Chapter Coordinators in the zones as well as stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
