By Ime Silas,

The Wife of Nigeria’s President, Her Excellency, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, will tomorrow visit Akwa Ibom state to flag-off her pet project, the Future Assured Programme, in the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly (Senate) Matters, Distinguished Sen. Ita Solomon Enang, who dropped this hint in Uyo today, during a Press Conference to announce the visit, said the First Lady was expected to kick-off empowerment of a minimum 10, 000 women across the state.

The Presidential National Assembly Liaison, while shading more light on the proposed visit also hinted that the event shall be conducted in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment, NDE. He noted that the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme who would be presented with starter packs, had been trained under the scheme.

He said: “The wife of the President and First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, will be in Akwa Ibom state tomorrow for the purpose of flagging-off and continuing her Future Assured Programme in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment. She will be here as guest of the All Progressives Congress, the APC, family in the state and Akwa Ibom people”.

Speaking further, Sen. Enang said that other individuals and institutions would also cease the opportunity to dole out their empowerment packages to different sets of beneficiaries. “Other persons would also collaborate in that programme like the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC), the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North west in the National Assembly, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, as well as other national assembly members who have  most of their constituency empowerment programmes and would want to use that opportunity and present them to the beneficiaries”

Sen. Enang, who is also Director-General, Akwa Ibom State APC 2019 Governorship Committee, further maintained that beneficiaries, who shall also get financial grants and other financial packages to help them venture into businesses or enhance their business fortunes, were drawn from the state through processes, devoid of political coloration.

The President’s aide while announcing that the event shall be held at the Nsima Ekere’s Governorship Campaign Grounds, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital at 10 am, called on women of the state to come out en masse to accord the President’s wife a rousing welcome.
